Community Partners
Community Building Tutors (CBT) is always looking to establish relationships and partnerships with elementary schools, high schools, and community organizations that would like to work with CBT to host our tutoring program at a new location. To facilitate the development of these relationships, CBT board members are available to make onsite visits and to discuss the organization in greater detail. Please contact playarole@cbtutors.org with any questions you may have or to set up an informational meeting.
The following is an example of the process involved in developing a CBT partnership with a school or community organization:
- Visit with your administration, or appropriate representative, to explain the organization and tutoring process in greater detail.
- Visit the potential location to meet with interested students or other individuals.
- Send an information packet that contains flyers/brochures that can be distributed to interested volunteers.
The following is what CBT will provide to develop our tutoring program at your location:
- CBT will handle all of the logistical issues involved in the development and continued oversight of a tutoring program, including recruiting tutors.
- CBT will serve as a consultant to help your location establish a unique and lasting tutoring program.
CBT can also serve as a consultant, assisting an existing tutoring program, or implementing CBT’s unique character education curriculum. Our tutoring sessions are formatted so that students spend time both on academic work and on a wide variety of activities that help to build their sense of community and civic engagement. We are able to guide existing programs in finding community resources, determining the needs and capabilities of their students, and creating community-related activities.
