During the Spring semester of 2015, the students and tutors at the Van Cleve Park site in Minneapolis helped instill a new concept into the CBT program. By partnering with the Leadership Minor at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, the students were allotted the resources and help they needed to create a lasting impact in the community. The students chose to brighten up the Van Cleve community with art work. The picture to the right illustrates the art canvas they created throughout the semester. It embodies the six core values of CBT and the children’s interpretations of how these values fit into their lives and the community. A second semester long effort related to our core value involved the creation of chain links out of construction paper that contained words that the students correlated to the core values. This activity allowed the students to learn and internalize the six core values. On the last day of Spring programming, the students, their families, the staff, and the tutors were able to celebrate the unveiling of these project with a party and an opportunity to build a new structure with their building blocks.
